With the new year upon us, we are now entering into the third trimester of pregnancy, and that means we’ve got to start putting some serious energy into getting the baby room in order. This room was originally Christine’s home office, but when we found out she was pregnant, we decided to put the baby in there instead. It’s been a while since I last checked out Google Books, but it’s really coming along. You can now download entire scanned volumes of an impressive array of titles (particularly if you’re interested in older scholarly works) for free. Now I just need to find the best way to pair up all these free books with my Kindle when it comes.

After checking one out for a while the other day, I’ve decided to order an Amazon Kindle. I first started covering ebooks back in ‘98, and I’ve always loved the idea, but the problem of content delivery has kept me from buying my own reader. But with Amazon, I’m fairly confident that I’ll be able to get good deals on a vast library of titles for years to come, and that the books I buy will still be accessible on future devices. Because they’re currently sold out, my reader won’t likely arrive before the new year, but I’m looking forward to using it. At the same time, it’s not too late for me to cancel my order if one of you out there can give me a good reason to hold off. (I’ve already considered the battery life and backlight issues, but if there’s something I’ve not considered, I’d love to know about it.)
